ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – An Islamabad special court central judge handed down a 23-year sentence to a section officer of the interior ministry on Friday for helping a Pakistani convict to escape punishment in Britain through the forgery of official documents.
According to the details, Qamar Abbas had been sentenced by British courts on charges of drug trafficking but Muhammad Ali, an official of interior ministry, helped him escape punishment by sending the courts a fake letter from the Interior Ministry.
The interior ministry official also helped Abbas secure a release from the Pakistani courts.
Malik Nazir Ahmad of Islamabad court also fined Muhammad Ali a total of Rs. 0.85 million. Drug smuggler Qamar Abbas was also imprisoned for 14 years and fined Rs. 0.3 million.
