KARACHI – Water is a basic necessity of life and it’s a wonder how many people are still deprived of clean drinking water and sanitation, even though they’re the most essential of all human rights. Karachi itself has been repeatedly facing a shortage of water, where the citizens of many underprivileged areas, like Shanti Nagar, have been affected by it.
In the midst of these destitute circumstances, the Hamid Ismail Foundation took it upon themselves to provide the citizens of Shanti Nagar, with a means to solve some of their problems.
The Hamid Ismail Foundation installed a Water Filtration Plant and an RO (Reverse Osmosis) Plant in Shanti Nagar recently, that were inaugurated together on the 11th of July, 2019. The installation of this plant is expected to benefit approximately 5000 individuals from the area. The ceremony that took place for the ribbon-cutting also included planting trees in Shanti Nagar, and painting the streets there as well.
An excellent and impressive effort by the esteemed CEO of Ismail Industries and Bisconni, Mr. Hamid Ismail, this is a step towards a better future for the inhabitants of Shanti Nagar. As per his own words, “The underprivileged sector of our society deserves a strong entity to focus on them and their needs, and with the HIF, I hope and strive to undertake enough developmental projects to bring a difference to the lives of those in need.”
It’s heartwarming to see a foundation focus on specific sectors of our society and worry about their needs as well. The Hamid Ismail Foundation has been playing a significant role in this regard. Previously it also renovated a cricket ground in the area and arranged a cricket tournament for the children there.
It would be great to see more and more organizations redirect their efforts towards developmental projects around their neighborhoods, to help generate long term benefits from it.
