Imran Khan’s close aide Farrukh Habib quits PTI

LAHORE – Farrukh Habib, a close aide of former prime minister Imran Khan, on Monday parted ways with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

He also announced joining the Jahangir Khan Tarin-led Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party at a press conference.

The former minister of state condemned the May 9 violence, saying the politics of agitation against state institutions was not beneficial for the country. He called for taking steps for the betterment of the country.

He acknowledged that PTI’s ouster through no-confidence vote was constitutional. The party should have opted for democratic struggled and waited for elections, he opined.

Habib said the PTI launched a violent movement after the PDM-led government was formed in the Centre. He said the Imran Khan should show responsibility at that time and refrain the followers from creating uncertainty in the country.

He also took a dig at the former premier for retaining gifts from Toshakhana, saying: “We have been slamming Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari for taking the luxury items from the state depository”.
