KARACHI – The ninth four-day International Defence Exhibition and Seminar-2016 will begin at Expo Centre in Karachi today [Tuesday] with ninety delegates from forty three countries participating in the event.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the exhibition that will feature representation from scores of companies hailing from countries around the globe.
The route leading to the Expo Centre from Karachi Airport has been adorned with national flags and buntings and the traffic police have announced alternate routes.
IDEAS 2016 would foster the image of Karachi at international level, the District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Korangi said, in a statement, on Sunday.
The exhibition is being arranged by Defense Export and Promotion Organization under the theme of “Arms for Peace.”
A total of 418 companies from 34 countries including 157 Pakistani firms will showcase their products in this mega defence event.
This year nine new countries are participating in the exhibition because of the successful marketing by the Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO).
These countries include Luxembourg, Denmark, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, Nigeria and Romania.
DEPO Director Media Commodore Tahir Javed told a news conference that overwhelming response from the companies from across the world has boosted our confidence and proves the success of this mega event.
According to organizers, JF-Thunder, K8 Aircraft, Al-Khalid Tank, Fast Attack Craft Missile Boat and other defense products will be showcased in the exhibition.
