Ridiculous : Trump vows to restore travel ban and overturn legal ruling by so-called judge

WASHINGTON – Ridiculing a federal judge, US President Donald Trump has vowed to overturn a legal ruling which suspended his ban on travellers from seven mainly Muslim countries.

Trump described federal judge in Seattle James Robart as a “so-called” justice whose “ridiculous” opinion “essentially takes law-enforcement away from” the US.

The US administration argues that Trump’s executive order last week, which caused confusion and anger, is designed to protect the US.

“The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!” Mr Trump said on Twitter.

Washington’s Attorney General Bob Ferguson on Monday filed a lawsuit in federal court against President Donald Trump, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and high-ranking Trump Administration officials.

The Attorney General also filed a motion for temporary restraining order seeking an immediate halt to the Executive Order’s implementation, which was honored in Friday’s judgement.

In a clear-cut manner, the judge suggested that travel restrictions could be lifted immediately, saying the prohibition was unconstitutional.

The ban’s implementation was halted with immediate effect.

Several airlines have said they are allowing nationals targeted by the ban to board flights to America. Customs officials told airlines that they could resume boarding banned travellers. Within hours, Qatar Airways said it would do so, followed by Air France.
