LAHORE (Staff Report) – Eminent Urdu writer and novelist Abdullah Hussain passed away at the age of 84 in Lahore on Saturday.
He had been suffering from blood cancer.
Abdullah Hussain’s masterpiece novels included “Udaas Naslain”, “Nasheb”, “Nadaar Log”, “Azaad Log” and “Raat”.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Abdullah Hussain.
In their separate messages to the bereaved family, they extended their heartfelt condolences while lauding the services rendered by him for promotion of the national language and enrichment of Urdu literature. They described his death as a loss to the nation.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of Abdullah Hussain.
