Oscar award winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy joins hand with NBL player LeBorn James. They are currently working on a new venture for HBO, well we know there is a lot of money making happening when it has names like HBO and James in it! Chinoy has the best on her team as Tarish Dalton is her co-director.
Her documentary ‘Student Athelete’ will revolve around a college student who have to pay a hefty amount so he can get in the billion dollar industry. The documentary aims to uncover the hard and bitter truths about how hard it is for American amateur athletes to get into the scene as they are exploited by the high revenue college sports.
Steve Stout, the producer of this venture talks about the struggles and problems men and women have to face in order to become soemthing in the sports industry. He says;
“This documentary is very important as it debunks the myth that student athletes are fairly compensated by receiving scholarships and a valuable education. In fact the demand put on these students by this oppressive system makes it impossible for them to get the education they deserve.”
This documentary will also have a coach who will expose and track down the financial deals related to sports world bringing the bitter reality that it’s now a mere business making industry.
