‘Serious trash’: Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli sued for shaming a man on social media

MUMBAI - Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and cricketer husband Virat Kohli have been served a legal notice by the man, who was shamed by the couple on social media.

The man, Arhan Singh, was spotted by Anushka throwing a plastic wrapper from his car's window last week. The Pari star called him out for littering from her neighbouring car and Virat Kohli uploaded a video of their exchange on social media. The video went viral.

Saw these people throwing garbage on the road & pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right! Singh first hit back with a Instagram post, in which he bashed Anushka and Virat: "The garbage that mistakenly went out of the window of my 'luxury car' was way less than the garbage that came out from your mouth, from your 'luxury car's window, or the trashy mind of Virat Kohli to shoot and post this online... for whatever gains. Now that's some serious trash."

Disclaimer: i have no desire to gain any mileage from this post of mine... Horrible! So I happened to carelessly Litter a sq mm of plastic while driving ! A car passing by rolls their window down and there we have our wonderful @anushkasharma ranting and yelling like a crazy roadside person! While I’m apologetic for my carelessness , Mrs Anushka Sharma Kohli a little etiquette and politeness in ur dialogue wouldn’t have made u a lesser star !! There are all kinds of manners and hygiene .. verbal etiquette is one of them ! The garbage that mistakenly went out of the window of my "luxury car"... In a statement, Sindh informed that his legal advisors have sent Virat and Anushka a notice and that he will make no further comments as the 'ball is in their court.'

Sticking to the legal route, Singh said he awaits the couple’s response.

Soon after his post, his mother Gittanjali Elizabeth, posted a screenshot from Virat's video and lashed out at the couple for 'violating basic rights to privacy'.

While Anushka is ambassador for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Clean India Mission, not everyone is convinced that she handled the incident well. She's been criticised of being "rude", "impolite" and "arrogant" with Congress leader Sanjay Jha jumping into the controversy last night, saying, "Celebrities don't need to promote themselves when supposedly attempting a good thing. How much publicity do you want, guys?"
