ISLAMABAD –Renowned Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik is currently in Pakistan on a month-long official visit during which he will travel to different cities.
A day earlier, the prominent scholar, who has strong command on comparative study of religions, attended a ceremony arranged by a non-governmental organisation in Islamabad.
He had been invited as a chief guest to the event where he was asked to distribute awards among the orphan children of Pakistan Sweet Home.
As the award ceremony was underway, Dr Zakir Naik left the stage suddenly, leaving the administration and media persons surprised.
Reports said the scholar was asked to give awards to orphan girls and when they started gathering on the stage, he left the place as he was uncomfortable with the situation.
Reports said Dr Naik refused to give awards to orphan girls, saying these are “na-mahram” for him.
