“We are convinced that he would be a dangerous president and would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being,” they wrote in a statement published in The New York Times.
The veteran officials maintained that Trump lacks the character, values, and experience to be president. Another allegation leveled against the billionaire is his ignorance of basic facts of international politics.
The notables behind the written statement rejecting Trump include former CIA and National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden, former Director of National Intelligence and Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte and Eric Edelman, who was Vice President Dick Cheney’s national security adviser.
