‘Yalghaar’: A mega-budget movie that depicts Pakistan's extraordinary war on terrorism
With U.S. President Trump calling upon world leaders to collectively continue their support towards the Global War on Terrorism; the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has emerged as a key player with a crucial role in the conduct of military operations against the insurgency.

The country, being a geopolitical hub, witnessed a drastic proliferation of religious extremism during the Cold War with the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 which further expanded after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

War drama 'Yalghaar' (Assault) directed by Hassan Waqar Rana, who according to some reviewers and critics is a former Pakistani Army Officer, is based on verified events of a military operation against a Taliban stronghold located in Swat Valley near the border of Afghanistan. How the operation is conducted and combated forms the premise of 'Yalghaar.'

The northern region embedded with mountainous terrain enables terrorists to build safe havens in which it becomes difficult to clear by the Pakistani Army during the span of 70 hours.

The storyline heroically depicts the lives of each soldier united in the joint effort to purge terrorism from their beloved homeland. Actor Bilal Ashraf who plays an SSG Commando, the Pakistani version of an elite Special Forces soldier, expresses “terrorism has destroyed the lives of countless innocents.

This film brings to light the humanity of each soldier that sacrifices their personal comforts and dreams for a bigger cause; to protect their country and loved ones from evil incarnate."

'Yalghaar' premieres June 27th at the Writer’s Guild in Los Angeles, CA, organised by Assad Khan and Sameer Moosani. Worldwide release on June 30th and also stars Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui from the acclaimed film 'A Mighty Heart.'
