LAHORE (Staff Report) – World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-P) in collaboration with Horlicks-GSK Consumer Healthcare Pakistan will be hosting the 17th annual Travelling Nature Carnival on Sunday at Race Course Park from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Nature Carnival aims to enhance awareness about nature conservation among students and the general public. It is an integral part of the organization’s school outreach programme. Schools, colleges and universities will set up over 100 stalls to showcase their entries in the 3D environmental models completion, and give presentations and performances at the venue.
The various projects themes include trees – friends of nature and their benefits; reduce plastic, save marine life; species habitats of the snow leopard, markhor and vulture; recycle waste-reduce impact; bringing eco-friendly changes to campus; eco-recycling and repurposing of e-waste/green energy; wealth of wetlands – ecological, social and economic; and identifying environmental needs, presenting solutions. Shields and certificates will be awarded to winning schools.
Aisam-Ul-Haq, Pakistan’s top tennis player and an international top-10 doubles player, will be the chief guest at the occasion.
WWF-Pakistan and Horlicks-GSK Consumer Healthcare Pakistan will host various informational activities for visitors including an arts competition, quiz competition, interactive 3D model-making competition, magic shows, a lucky draw, live music, environmental theatre performance and environment debate competition. The carnival will also have food stalls.
The family event is open to all with a nominally priced ticket so that people from all walks of life can enjoy activities. Funds generated will be used for the conservation of nature in Pakistan. Carnival tickets are available at WWF-Pakistan’s head office, participating schools and can also be purchased at the venue.
