Former senator Hidayatullah among three killed in Bajaur blast

PESHAWAR – At least three people were killed after an improvised explosive device went off in an area of Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bajaur’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Bakht Munir said the former senator Hidayatullah was among those who lost their life in the blast. 

He said the vehicle of the former lawmakers was targeted in the IED blast in Dama Dola area of the tribal district. 

Security officials have cordoned off the area to collect evidence while bodies of the victims have been shifted to hospital. 

Khan had gone to Damadola in PK-22 constituency to run electoral campaign of his nephew and he was targeted when he was return. 

Hidayatullah Khan was son for former MNA Haji Bismillah Khan and ex-governor Shaukatullah. He has served as senator from 2012 to 2018 and 2018 to 2024.

He has also served in Senate’s standing committees of aviation and NACTA. 

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the deaths of Hidayatullah and other people who lost their lives in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Bajaur.

The president condemning the terrorist incident, expressed condolences with the bereaved families, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release.

He also prayed for the departed souls and for the bereaved families to bear the losses with fortitude.
