NEW YORK – Twitter is considering building a premium version of its app on which it will get subscription charges, the company has said.
According to the Independent, the company is looking to create a paid-for version of its popular app Tweetdeck, it said.
The company is taking the steps in order to boost the revenue as it is not earning enough through advertising like facebook and others.
That has meant that despite increased usage and interest after posts published by users including fanatic Donald Trump, the site is still unable to earn enough money.
The company might look to make more money through an upgraded version of Tweetdeck, the app that many people already use to navigate the site. Tweetdeck is largely used by professionals, an includes tools for running multiple accounts and scheduling posts that are of interest to those running corporate accounts.
Twitter is carrying out a survey “to assess the interest in a new, more enhanced version of Tweetdeck,” spokeswoman Brielle Villablanca said in a statement on Thursday.
