TEL AVIV – In any other city, such a sight might have been surprising but in Haifa city, wild boars who have been strolling through in increasing numbers, is no matter of shock.
The flocks of these four-legged interlopers snooze in private properties, snuffle across the lawns.
They attack people’s dogs and even sleep in the streets. Interestingly some eat from the hands of humans as they are no longer particularly considered wild.
Their population has been multiplied at such a rapid rate that as they have has risen from 600,000 to 1 million over the past decade.
These mammals adapted to the urban lifestyle, and most of the people here have had no choice but to get used to them as well.
Their presence divided the locals as some enjoy having them while others want them gone. Trash cans have been chained up to prevent these animals from digging through them.
Locals even fenced up parks, but the idea doesn’t seem to keep wild boars away. Many locals claimed to be attacked by boars, who are as big as Rottweiler’s, and even reports of children getting bitten.

It all started after a massive fire destroyed their natural place. Later, the authorities ban to shoot boars around the city, which had soared their population.
The whole town is overrun by these animals as they were attracted by food, and they stayed because there was always something to eat.
