Transit passengers at Dubai airport allowed to take city tour

DUBAI – Dubai Airport has announced the decision to allow passengers with the transit time of more than four hours to take the city to take Dubai city tour.

Dubai Airports, in cooperation with Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), has developed the ‘Microcosm of Dubai’, a new initiative that aims to allow passengers at Dubai International to experience the city’s tourism offering both inside and outside the aviation hub.

The Microcosm of Dubai project launched by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, is part of a series of initiatives developed under the umbrella of ‘Dubai 10X’, which aims to place Dubai 10 years ahead of other cities.



The ‘Microcosm of Dubai’  project aims to showcase the city’s culture, innovation and attractions in a bid to entice visitors to come to Dubai.

Meanwhile, passengers with less than four hours of transit time will be able to take a “virtual tour” of the city.

“The ‘Microcosm of Dubai’, developed in cooperation with the Dubai Future Foundation, will enable hundreds of thousands of passengers passing through Dubai International Airport daily to experience the various facets of Dubai while they are in the airport through interactive experiences, virtual reality and cultural displays with our artDXB and musicDXB programmes. If their connection time exceeds four hours, they will have the option of taking a tour of Dubai,” said CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths.

According to Griffiths, the new initiative will enable them to achieve their goal of disrupting current airport models by focusing on the customer and discovering new ideas that solve current service challenges.
