VIDEO: Hindu extremists raise Indian flag on a mosque and chant anti-Pakistan slogans

NEW DELHI - A group of Hindu nationalist extremists violated the sanctity of a mosque in India, after they climbed its minaret and raised the Indian flag.

A video of the incident is going viral on social media, earning huge criticism from all quarters.

The radicals can also be seen chanting slogans, “Hindustan Zindabad, Pakistan Murdabad,” in the video which was first shared on Twitter.

It is yet unclear where the incident happened.

Hindu extremism is on the rise in India, which basically follows secularism, under the patronage of Hindu-nationalist BJP that came into power in the general elections of 2014.

Earlier this year, India's Supreme Court ordered that the cofounder of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, LK Advani, and other leaders be tried for criminal conspiracy in the demolition of a 16th century mosque about 25 years ago.

The Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, in the northern Uttar Pradesh state, was pulled down by Hindu activists on December 6, 1992, leading to widespread riots in which more than 2,000 people died.

Meanwhile, cow vigilantism is also targeting the religious minorities, especially Muslims, with mobs lynching people suspected of eating or trading cows ‘in the name of Hindu values’.

Dozens of people have so far been killed by Hindu extremist groups for being suspected of eating cow meat in this South Asian country of over 79.8% of Hindu population.
