Army chief directs troops to consolidate military gains for long-term stability
ISLAMABAD (Staff Reporter) - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has expressed his complete satisfaction over the progress of ongoing operation in Shawal and adjoining areas in North Waziristan Agency.

While chairing Corps Commanders conference, Raheel Sharif stressed the need to consolidate gains achieved during operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said that in order to destroy militant’s network in the country, intelligence based operations should speedup. The COAS also said that operation in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) is advancing towards its logical end and this operation will play a vital role for long-term stability.

Raheel Sharif also underlined the need of effective border management and continued dominance of cleared areas to maintain writ of the state. He reiterated that the return of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) must be completed as per the given timeline.

The meeting also reviewed internal and external security situation and discussed other professional matters.
