Hugh Jackman to play Wolverine one last time

LOS ANGELES (Web Desk) - Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman has hinted in an Instagram post that his iconic character Wolverine would be ending.

"Wolverine... one last time," the 46 -year-old star captioned a photo of his fists, clutching the claws of his famous mutant character.

While bloggers and social media users debated the actor's meaning, sources said the actor was referring to a planned sequel of the 2013 standalone hit The Wolverine, reported TheWrap.

While bloggers and tweeples debated if the character could feasibly appear in Bryan Singer's forthcoming ensemble X-Men: Apocalypse or in Ryan Reynolds-starrer spin-off Deadpool, director James Mangold appeared to confirm that Jackman will be back in the forthcoming follow-up. He wrote on Twitter, "Can't wait to make this, HJ! Been toiling quietly a while now!"

Jackman made his debut as Wolverine in 2000's X-Men and is arguably the franchise's biggest star.

He has played the character six times thus far, most recently in X-Men: Days of Future Past alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy.

Jackman isn't the first to exit the longtime franchise. Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that Apocalypse will be her final film as the shape-shifting Mystique, after she replaced Rebecca Romijn in 2011's X-Men: First Class.
