Efforts afoot to end corruption: NAB
LAHORE (Web Desk) - The National Accountability Bureau organised a seminar on Wednesday to commemorate the International Anti-Corruption Day at Alhamra Arts Council. Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana graced the event as the chief guest.

Ahmer Bilal Sufi, Aksi Mufti and Dr Musadik Malik were the guest speakers who elaborated various aspects of corruption and its ill effects on the society.

Addressing the audience, NAB Lahore Director General Syed Burhan Ali said special focus is being given to awareness and prevention activities to educate the masses about negative effects of corruption.

He further said that youth is the future of Pakistan; therefore NAB has laid special emphases on the youth.

He also said that Character Building Societies (CBS) are being set up in educational institutions across the country to build an effective edifice against corruption. Total 10,044 CBS have been formulated comprising 1,50,000 members. However, if performance of this Bureau is compared with any agency, figures tell that no parallels can be drawn.

During the seminar, the governor awarded merit certificates and cash prizes to the position holders of different competitions held by the NAB as part of its anti-corruption awareness campaign.

The governor in his address appreciated the efforts of NAB in creating awareness among the masses against the menace of corruption.

Dr Musadik Malik distributed cheques amounting to Rs 26.293 million among the affectees of different scams.

Later on, he launched the CBS website and also inaugurated the painting and poster exhibition organised by the NAB.

UAE Dirham AED was at 74.95 and Saudi Riyal's new rate was at 73.30.
